The volunteer positions for the 2019 Festival

The Fraser Valley Bald Eagle Festival Society generally meets once a month. Meetings are held at the Mission Chamber in their boardroom located at 34033 Lougheed HwyMissionBC
The Society is always looking for energetic volunteers to become a part of this environmentally focused festival. Volunteers are needed for the positions highlighted below as well as on the festival weekend to assist at the participating sites
Current committee volunteer positions needing to be filled
1) Media/PR Person
Description: This individual would help promote the festival through press releases and event submissions. Most importantly be the lead on the pre-festival eagle release.
Which would include:
*touching base with O.W.L. to talk about Sonsie’s (the teaching eagle) appearance and about eagle for release
*create a media plan to attract attention to the release
*work with the chosen site to set up the day
*follow up with media to make sure they are coming to the event
*invite local schools (Chehalis and Dewdney Elementary) to attend
*help organize the day
Time Commitment: Monthly meetings recommended. Most PR is done the month prior to the festival.
Skill set required: Good communication skills and should be able to use Microsoft Word. The festival has many media contacts in the database but some additional research may be required to update information.
2) Festival Weekend Volunteers
Description: During the festival weekend several sites require volunteers for jobs that range from directing parking, managing people flow to handing out festival information. Specific job descriptions are available closer to the weekend.

3) Additional volunteer activities
Photo Contest (occurs in May and is how we select our theme photo for the year)
*organize for voting
*create colouring page
*send the page out to the
*collect and display at the Mission Chamber
*pick winners- contact and give prizes
Hot Spots (souvenir button treasure hunt that happens during the festival)
*order Hot Spot Buttons
*organize site prizes
*work with other committee members to create the “draw” sheets
*make sure sites have everything they need to promote the fundraiser
*select the winners after the festival and contact them to arrange to pick up their prizes
